About us

The Ibero-American Judicial Summit is, above all, a structure for cooperation, agreement and the exchange of experiences constituted through the highest instances of the judiciaries of the region of Ibero-America.

The ultimate goal of the Ibero-American Judicial Summit is “the adoption of coordinated projects and actions, based on the conviction that a shared cultural heritage constitutes an exceptionally valuable instrument for strengthening the Judiciary and, by extension, democracy, while maintaining the necessary respect for difference.”

The strengthening of the judiciary and, consequently, the democratic system. The Ibero-American Judicial Summit has its own internal rules of operation, as well as a permanent secretary's office that is currently the responsibility of the General Council of the Judiciary of the Kingdom of Spain. Its function is to coordinate and assist the pro-tempore office, which falls to the countries that host the successive editions and are also responsible for organising events. There is also a national coordinator for each country to guarantee permanent contact between the institution and the two offices: the permanent secretary's office and the pro-tempore secretary's office.
